The Palazzo Sirena – today the Auditorium Sirena – offers seating for 274 people and space for conferences, concerts, theatre performances and film screenings. The first Palazzo Sirena building opened in 1888, was destroyed in 1943 and rebuilt in 1950.

The Museo Navale Enzo Maio Masci is housed in the historic Torre Ciarrapico. Another important landmark is the Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore, which was built before the year 1000. On 5 August 2006, it was declared a national monument. Inside, it preserves the Ostensorio dell’Assunta by Nicola da Guardiagrele, created in 1413.

The Convento Michetti includes the Santa Maria del Gesù church, which dates from the 15th century and was remodelled in the 18th century, as well as a small Franciscan monastery. Francesco Paolo Michetti bought the monastery in 1885 and turned it into his home and studio. He lived and worked there, received friends and artists, and in the last decades of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, one of Italy’s most important cultural circles after unification emerged there. The cultural figures who gathered there included Gabriele D’Annunzio and Francesco Paolo Tosti. The Convento Michetti is privately owned by Michetti’s heirs and can only be visited on rare occasions.

In Francavilla al Mare, sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming, SUP and canoeing are among the ways to experience the sea actively. The Pontile Sirena was built in the 1960s, extends approximately 130 metres out to sea from the shore and offers a unique perspective of the Abruzzo coast and the townscape. The annual Feast of San Franco includes fireworks over the sea.
