Lido Marini: Beach, Nature and the Salento Coast

Lido Marini lies on the western Ionian coast of Salento between Torre Pali (Marina di Salve) and Torre Mozza (Marina di Ugento). The beach of Lido Marini stretches for more than two kilometres and lies within the municipalities of Salve and Ugento.

Beach and Coastal Landscape

The immediate surroundings of Lido Marini include Spiaggia Lido Marini, which is designated as a beach. Spiaggia Torre Mozza, Spiaggia Torre Pali and Fontanelle are also located nearby. In addition, the Litorale di Ugento Regional Natural Park extends along the white beaches between Pazze and Lido Marini for approximately nine kilometres. Nature Trails and the Bacini di Ugento

Another distinctive feature is the Bacini di Ugento. They form an almost eight-kilometre circular route with seven basins that reconnect with the sea at Punta del Macolone. The circular route therefore differs clearly from a purely beach-focused stay and is suitable as an independent point of reference when planning walks or excursions.

Sea, Dive Site and Regional Distinctions

In the sea area off Lido Marini, calcareous sponges and other sessile organisms, as well as Chromis chromis and Anthias anthias, occur on the dive site. For dives off Lido Marini, a suitable area offshore is reached by boat and a marker buoy is deployed. This connection with the sea is particularly suited to travellers who want to plan their time on the coast not only around beaches but also around the underwater world. The Blue Oasis “Secche di Ugento” also lies in the stretch of sea from Torre San Giovanni via Torre Mozza to Lido Marini. The Secche di Ugento are recognised as a Presidio Slow Food, making a regional connection to food culture visible alongside the marine environment.

Castles, Monument and Festivities

Il Castello is a castle in the surroundings of Lido Marini. Castello dei Trane and Castello dei Gallone are castles in the wider regional area around Lido Marini. The Menhir Della Croce, a monument, is also located in the wider regional area. In Lido Marini, religious and civic festivities in honour of the Madonna della Pace were held from Wednesday the 6th to Saturday the 9th of August.
