Marina di Pescoluse: Beach, Coast and Excursions

Marina di Pescoluse combines a distinctive coastal landscape with very fine white sand, long dunes and red earth. The beach stretches for six kilometres between Posto Vecchio and Torre Pali. This gives the area a variety of landscape impressions within a compact stretch of coast and makes it suitable for a trip that brings together beach days, nature and excursions.

Beach Landscape and Sea

A long belt of dunes runs along Pescoluse Beach. In summer, wild lilies and ferns bloom there. Behind the beach stretches red earth crossed by the Canale dei Fani. Along the coast, numerous beach resorts alternate with freely accessible sections of beach, allowing you to choose between managed areas and open stretches of coast.

Pescoluse has shallow and safe seabeds. Since 2009, the area has held the Green Flag for child safety awarded by the Associazione Italiana Pediatri. In 2026, Pescoluse is also among the beaches in the municipality of Salve awarded the Blue Flag. For families, this combination of shallow seabeds and recognised child safety is a particularly relevant aspect when planning a trip.

The equipped access point to Pescoluse’s accessible beach is located at Largo dei Gigli. The IAT Pescoluse tourist information office can be reached on foot from Piazza Parco dei Gigli in Pescoluse, Marina di Salve. The Parco Astronomico Sidereus is also located in the vicinity of Marina di Pescoluse, on the road leading to Pescoluse.

Water Sports and Routes between Salve and Pescoluse

In Pescoluse, you can enjoy water sports such as snorkelling and diving, as well as boat tours. Boats can be rented independently; alternatively, you can explore the coast with organised tourist groups. Destinations include, in particular, the caves and karst caverns along the coast.

Several associations organise baby trekking, sunset walks and night-time excursions along the routes between Salve and Pescoluse. In addition, the “Camminando nei Millenni” route is designated for Marina di Pescoluse – Salve. This means that, alongside time by the sea, you can also find opportunities for guided activities and for exploring the surrounding area at different times of day.

Cultural Traces in Pescoluse

The watchtower of Masseria Borgino dates from the 16th century and was built to defend the coast against Turkish invasions. The village of Pescoluse is also home to the Argentina-Graziadei Dolmen, a megalithic monument. Both sites represent different historical layers of the area: the watchtower points to coastal defence, while the dolmen reveals a much older past.

In the surroundings of Pescoluse, the ancient Masseria di Don Cesare survives as a preserved monument to past ways of life in Salento. Together with the Parco Astronomico Sidereus, the coastal paths and the activities on the water, it makes for a destination that offers various ways to explore beyond the beach.
