Cronovilla natural area on the Enza River
The protected Cronovilla area lies on the left bank of the Enza River, near the mouth of the Termina River. The WWF Cronovilla Nature Oasis is located in the Vignale hamlet along the left bank of the Enza River. The Cronovilla Oasis has nature trails; the sport-fishing lakes associated with it host competitions at national and international level.
For orientation on site, access to the Cronovilla Oasis is from the Vignale hamlet via Via San Geminiano, followed by the signs to the Cronovilla Nature Oasis and the sport-fishing lakes of the same name. This allows the natural area to be specifically included in travel planning, without treating the nature trails, lakes and riverside landscape as a single experience.
Church and historical traces
The Church of the Assumption of Mary and San Geminiano in Vignale is associated with the cultural environment of the Renaissance and dates back to the first half of the 16th century. The church houses the painting „Vergine del Rosario con il Bambino“, attributed to an Emilian painter from the period between the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is also celebrated in the Church of Vignale on 15 August. San Mauro is the patron saint of Vignale and is celebrated on 15 January.
San Geminiano and the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Vignale are associated with the tithe lists of 1230. The Villino de Strobel in Vignale is among the cultural assets of historical and architectural value. The Beccarelli clock factory, founded by Luigi Beccarelli in 1882, gave the Cronovilla locality its name. After 1905, Daniele de Strobel painted large canvases in a studio in the villa he had built near his father's villa in Vignale.
