A central point of interest is the preserved Castello di Casalgrande Alto. It is a rural manor house dating from the 15th century, arranged around a fortified residence. A dramatic turning point concerns the castle's defense: in 1557, the defenders resisted Spanish attacks for several days. Only a serious accident, which deprived them of their effective means of defense, led to their surrender. The castle was then destroyed and set on fire.
The Vecchio borgo di Boglioni is also part of the town's historical identity. It is the historic part of Casalgrande, around which the newer town center developed.
