Gattatico Between Memory and Landscape
Gattatico can be discovered on a trip to Italy through the history of the Cervi family, the landscape of the Po Valley and regional festivals with craft and culinary traditions. The town combines a specific place of remembrance with the Natura 2000 site and regional events.
Casa Cervi is located in the farmhouse that housed the Cervi family from 1934 onward. The house preserves the history of the seven brothers who were shot by the Nazis in December 1943. The specific site and the family history give the visit a clear historical context. The farmhouse is both the setting of the family story and the place where this memory is preserved.

Casa Cervi and the History of the Family
The Museo Casa Cervi presents documents, photographs, everyday objects and multimedia eyewitness accounts about the Cervi brothers and their partisan struggle. The Quadrisfera at Casa Cervi offers an immersive multimedia experience about the Cervi family and their era. The museum program also includes conferences, exhibitions and cultural activities.
For groups of ten or more and for schools, advance reservation at Casa Cervi is mandatory; for these two types of visits, it is part of preparing the stay.
The Po Valley and Protected Landscape
The Fontanili di Gattatico e Fiume Enza Natura 2000 site, designated as an SAC and SPA, includes Gattatico within the section located in the Province of Reggio Emilia. The agro-ecological park at Casa Cervi covers approximately 16 hectares. Native plants stand alongside typical Po Valley landscapes. In this way, the park conveys the character of the area.
Crafts, Cuisine and Events
The Festa del Grano in Olmo showcases traditional agricultural crafts. The festival culture includes the preparation of Parmigiano Reggiano and polenta, handmade bread, traditional grape treading and a ciccioli competition. The agricultural activities and regional foods stand alongside the competition as separate components of the festival.
The Fiera di San Matteo is associated with the fourth Sunday in September. It includes market stalls, a fairground, handicrafts, exhibitions, music and food. The Festival Teatrale di Resistenza is an event for contemporary civic theatre held in July. For scheduling purposes, July and the fourth Sunday in September are two separate event dates.
Surroundings and Cultural Orientation
The Certosa di Parma is considered a palace in the surroundings of Gattatico. Sorbolo and Sant'Ilario d'Enza are part of a historical cultural route. Sorbolo is connected to Parma by the Parma–Suzzara railway line. Sant'Ilario d'Enza is about eight kilometres from Gattatico and is connected to Reggio Emilia by SETA bus services. The connections lead to two different regional centres: Parma via Sorbolo and Reggio Emilia via Sant'Ilario d'Enza.
