The Chiesa di S. Giovanni Battista stands out for its façade with two orders of Doric pilasters, a triangular pediment, a central window and lateral niches. A dome rises above the building on a tall cylindrical drum. Inside, the church has an unusual floor plan: three naves are intersected at the centre by a transept. Where the transept joins the central nave, the drum of the dome begins.

The Chiesa di Valloria also offers a distinctive architectural impression. Its simple single-nave floor plan is characteristic of early 20th-century eclectic architecture. The façade is decorated with stone elements such as the portal, rose window and corbel arches. In this way, Guardamiglio brings together different church designs that are particularly suited to the quiet contemplation of architectural details.

Palazzo Zanardi-Landi and the Torretta

Palazzo Zanardi-Landi, also known as “la Torretta”, was commissioned by the Zanardi-Landi family as an aristocratic country residence. In addition to the main residence, the estate included houses, warehouses, stables and a garden. The Torretta has been documented since the 16th century; the main residence and the outbuildings date from later periods.

After careful restoration by the municipal administration, Palazzo Zanardi-Landi became a municipal cultural property used for events and exhibitions.

Community and local life

The Oratorio S. G. Bosco is a parish oratory attached to the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista and serves as a meeting place for young people. It offers its members educational, sporting and personal-development activities in the spirit of its founder.

Cycling through the rural surroundings

After San Rocco, the Ciclabile magotta reaches the outskirts of Guardamiglio and joins the main embankment there. The section described runs past scattered farmhouses and poplar groves; herons can also be seen.
