Culture around San Michele and the Campanone

The parish church of San Michele Arcangelo is dedicated to the holy archangel Michael. The old Oratorio Santa Maria della Neve is located at the Campanone in Montegaudio. The Campanone and the old Oratorio Santa Maria della Neve thus form another cultural point of reference alongside the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo.

The Campanone also has a clear historical connection: Giovanni Sforza commissioned it in 1494. The painting “La Madonna con Bambino e Santi” is kept in the Oratorio Santa Maria della Neve. The authorship of the painting is unknown; at the same time, it is attributed to Giangiacomo Pandolfi.

Remembrance culture also has specific points of reference in Montegaudio. The panel “Montegaudio – Il Campanone e la trappola dell’artiglieria” depicts an artillery trap during the battle. The Itinerario della Memoria also includes a panel at the Località “Campanone” in Montegaudio. During a visit to the area, the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo, the Campanone, the Oratorio Santa Maria della Neve and the two remembrance panels can be viewed as separate stops.

Cycle route and hilly landscape

For active day planning, Cycle Route 7 provides a clear spatial framework. It leads from Pesaro via Montegaudio, Petriano and Morciola back to Pesaro and is 61.1 kilometres long. The return route to Pesaro makes the route understandable as a loop. At 61.1 kilometres, the complete loop should be planned as a day-long activity in its own right; breaks and personal pace remain individual factors. For a shorter ride, the selected section, personal pace and breaks determine the time required; the 61.1 kilometres apply to the complete loop.

Museums, villas and beaches in the surrounding region

The Museo della Civiltà Contadina, Grotte, Arte Sacra museum is located in the area around Montegaudio. The Villa Miralfiore museum is also located in the surrounding area. Visitors interested in culture can include both museums in the regional day plan separately from the sacred buildings in the area around Montegaudio.

Mount Monte San Bartolo is located in the immediate vicinity of Montegaudio. The Villa Imperiale Pesaro and Villa San Bartolo palaces are also located in the wider surrounding region. For a spatially tiered plan, nearby Monte San Bartolo and the palaces located farther away in the region can be considered separately. This spatial distinction remains practical for excursions in the surrounding area: Monte San Bartolo is nearby, while Villa Imperiale Pesaro and Villa San Bartolo are located in the wider regional surroundings.

The beaches Bagni Due Palme, Miramare Beach and Spiaggia di Pesaro are also part of the wider surrounding region. They can therefore be considered separately from the museums and palaces when planning a regional day programme.
