Viarigi combines artistic murals, sacred architecture and views over changing areas of cultivated land, wooded areas and hazelnut groves. Several specific works and churches give the exploration different focal points.

Murals with Their Own Stories

The mural "Chi sono io? Il saltinbanco dell'anima mia" is dedicated to all artists and to poetry. It was commissioned on the occasion of the Saltinpiazza street art festival in 2019 and took first place in the artistic category of the "Dopo l'UNESCO, agisco!" competition in 2019.

Another striking work is "Suryas". It consists of five walls, each measuring approximately 4 × 2 metres, and tells the cycle of the sun. The mural "In equilibrio sul muro", on the other hand, is dedicated to the world of the circus and balance. It was created for the 2020 edition of the Saltinpiazza street art festival. Together, the works display different artistic motifs without reducing Viarigi to a single theme.

Sacred Architecture and Pilgrimage Connections

The churches also add their own distinctive features. The Church of Sant'Agata contains a 16th-century polyptych by the Maestro di Sant'Agata. The Church of San Silverio has a Greek-cross floor plan and alternating two-colour ashlar masonry. Here, pictorial decoration, floor plan and masonry stand alongside one another as different approaches to sacred architecture.

The small Church of San Marziano dates from the 11th century. In this area, it is considered the last or first rural church on the Via Francigena. Alongside art and architecture, the site thus brings a connection to an important pilgrimage route into Viarigi's thematic diversity.

Views across the Hilly Landscape

A landscape perspective is offered by Stage 9 of the "Cammini delle Alte Colline Ombrose e delle Colline Chiare". It ends with panoramic views of changing areas of cultivated land, wooded areas and hazelnut groves below the Torre dei Segnali, which dominates Viarigi. The section makes visible how closely the perception of the place is connected with its varied cultural landscape.

Festival Dates and Local Specialty

For 2026, the SaltinPiazza Festival programme includes a vertical dance performance by Eterea Arte Aerea on the Torre dei Segnali. The street art festival returns to Viarigi on 29 and 30 August 2026. These two details give the festival both a specific artistic focus and a fixed date.

A culinary aspect was on display during the 2024 patron saint celebrations in Viarigi: there was a gastronomic evening featuring Viarigi-style agnolotti and other specialities.
