Historic Town Centre and Notable Buildings

The historic town centre of Borgaro is centred around the old Maria Assunta church, which dates back to the 18th century. It was restored in 1752. The town centre preserves the heritage of a settlement that developed with a strong agricultural character; the oldest settlement areas are located in the Via Costituente area. The rooms adjoining the Santa Maria Assunta church house an old library and a historical archive with volumes and documents dating from the 16th century to the present day. The archive's chronological scope therefore extends further back than the restoration of the church. Maria Assunta and the Castello represent different periods of construction.

Santa Maria Assunta is also used throughout the year for cultural events and guided tours. The Castello di Santa Cristina is an imposing building constructed in the 17th century. It is still used as an agricultural business and cannot currently be visited.

Parkland and Seasonal Experiences

Parco Chico Mendez covers 100 hectares and extends into the areas of the municipalities of Turin and Venaria. Several walking and cycling paths cross the park. During the summer months, Parco Chico Mendez is used for events and concerts. Cycling Paths and Exercise in Borgaro

Borgaro has two cycling paths that cross each other. One of these cycling paths runs for more than two kilometres along Strada Provinciale 11 to the Castello di Santa Cristina. The Pista podistica Piero Mennea is located on Via Bertino and also has an equipped fitness area. Those using the cycling path can plan their daily stage along the route of Strada Provinciale 11 and based on the distance of more than two kilometres; at the Pista podistica, by contrast, the fitness area on Via Bertino provides a separate reference point for planning the day.

Chapel and Christmas Tradition

Another religious trace is the Chapel of Saints Cosmas and Damian. It is the only chapel that has survived. During the Christmas holidays, the chapel is open and houses a large mechanical nativity scene. The Christmas holidays provide a seasonal setting for a visit to Borgaro.
