Panorama and oldest settlement core

The viewpoint in Frassinetto offers a 360-degree panorama. Looking south, the view extends as far as Turin and beyond on clear days; in the other directions, it stretches across an amphitheatre of mountains. Chiapinetto, together with the main village, forms the oldest settlement core of Frassinetto. Arches, columns and narrow passageways are part of a sturdy architectural style that defines the character of the village. The view to the south depends on clear days, while the mountain amphitheatre shapes the views in the other directions.

Parish church and traces of the past

The first documented references to the parish church of San Bartolomeo in Frassinetto date back to 1328. The parish church’s stone bell tower dates from the Middle Ages. The church also houses a depiction of the Descent from the Cross, created in 1874 by the painter Carlo Bonatto Minella, who was born in Frassinetto. San Bartolomeo thus features both a medieval architectural element and a 19th-century work of art.

Another historical connection is provided by the still-visible remains of the Cascato e Nusrei quarries. Stonecutters once extracted roof slabs there, that is, stones used for roofing. The former use is therefore tied to a specific material and to the location of the quarries. Together with the settlement core and the parish church, this creates a villagescape in which architectural forms and the history of traditional craftsmanship stand side by side.

Hiking between Frassinetto and the Borgate

The Frassinetto–Pont Canavese hiking route starts in Frassinetto, is 4.8 kilometres long, takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, and is rated EE for experienced hikers.

The Passeggiata tra le Borgate leads through small woods and along little streams. After approximately 1.5 kilometres, you reach a bridge over the Torrente Stroncato. The distance to this intermediate destination should be understood as an approximate figure and indicates the spatial extent of the first section of the Passeggiata.

Leisure, wellness and Piedmontese cuisine

Arcansel is an outdoor leisure facility in Frassinetto. Its attractions include a 1,800-metre-long zip-line ride reaching speeds of up to 140 km/h. The wording “up to” indicates the upper speed limit and not a constant speed throughout the entire ride.

La Mason d’la Sfissi offers a wellness circuit in a mountain spa in Frassinetto. For the culinary side, there is Ristorante Villa Lunardini: by reservation, it serves homemade Piedmontese cuisine, including dishes such as Fritto Misto, Bagna Caoda and polenta.
