Routes and route connections around Ruà

The Peyret track leads to the bend above Borgata Ruà. A local track begins at Peyret. In addition, the route “Valanza (Ex Rifugio) da Luserna San Giovanni, giro” reaches the paved road shortly above Borgata Ruà. After the village of Franchino, a route leads into the territory of the municipality of Rorà. This gives you several clearly distinguishable route connections between Peyret, Ruà, Franchino and Rorà for your planning.

The Anello del Ciapel circuit

The Anello del Ciapel circuit begins and ends at Rorà Fucine/Ruà and is 9.78 km long. Its route follows paved and unpaved roads. The circuit is designated for mountain bikes and road bikes. If you compare a cycling route by length, surface and target group, this route therefore provides specific points of reference without being limited to a single type of path.

Località Rua and Località Fucine

The route’s second bend is in Località Rua at an elevation of 698 m. Shortly after Località Rua, the route passes Località Fucine at an elevation of 693 m on the right. The two elevations mark different points along the same described route and supplement the locations around Ruà with precise topographical orientation.

Stone and everyday history in Rorà

The Ecomuseo della Pietra “Le Loze di Rorà” comprises two sites: a museum site in the village of Rorà and a second site at the disused Tupinet quarry in the Rorà Valley. The extraction of the stone is reconstructed there. The historic Tupinet quarry has been established as a museum trail; visits are restricted to small groups accompanied by an authorized guide and to favorable weather conditions.

The museum in Rorà reconstructs several areas of everyday life: a kitchen, stable, bedroom and school. There are also two halls devoted to the history of the Waldensians and stone processing. At the two Ecomuseo sites, you can therefore encounter both the living environment of earlier settlements and the importance of local stone extraction.

The Anello di Pietra

The Anello di Pietra leads from Borgata Rumer in Rorà to Punta Cournour in Rorà. It follows an old municipal road connecting the Rumer settlement with the area near Punta Cournour. The route provides a complete view of the territory of the three municipalities of Rorà, Luserna San Giovanni and Bagnolo Piemonte, where Luserna stone is mined today. In this way, the route combines a specific path between two points with a view of a landscape whose character has been shaped by stone processing.
