Tre Fontane between the Coast and Dunes

Tre Fontane owes its name to natural waterways that emerge and flow into the sea. The coast stretches for more than 6 kilometres. In the east, it connects with Triscina Beach, and in the west with the Lido of Torretta Granitola. In Tre Fontane, long stretches of beach, a dune landscape and the characteristic connection with the sea come together.

Beach, Dunes and Nature

Tre Fontane Beach features high dunes. Sea lilies, also known as San Pancrazio lilies, grow there, along with dense succulent vegetation consisting of Carpobrotus edulis. On the dunes towards Tre Fontane, Silene colorata blooms pink in spring, while sea lilies bloom white. In 2025, a Caretta caretta nest was found on Tre Fontane Beach; numerous sea turtles had already nested there the previous year.

At some sections of Tre Fontane Beach, beach resorts offer parasols, sun loungers, toilets, showers and beach volleyball courts. Lido Coco Loco Beach at Piazza Favoroso 22 has a Sand-&Sea chair, Solemar equipment, a walkway, accessible showers and qualified staff.

The Madonna of Tre Fontane

Every year on 15 August, the statue of Maria Assunta in Tre Fontane is taken by motorboat along the western and eastern sections of the beach. During the Imbarco della Madonna, the statue of the Madonna is carried in a procession to the beach and then out to sea. The tradition includes prayers, hymns and applause and involves residents, tourists and the faithful.
