Chiesa di San Marco: Art from Several Centuries

The Chiesa di San Marco in Mollaro was rebuilt and extended in 1852. Its façade features a fresco of Saint Mark by Carlo Bonacina, created in 1946. The church building therefore combines its architectural history with a clearly identifiable work from the 20th century.

The interior also preserves several specific works of art. The marble high altar was created in 1853 together with the altarpiece that adorns it. The painting by Luigi de Guarnieri depicts the Madonna with Saints Mark and Anthony. As a legacy of the former church, it also houses a 16th-century painting of Saint Andrew and an 18th-century painting of Saint Francis. Those interested in sacred art and the history that has developed over time in the village will therefore find several clearly distinguishable points of reference from different periods.

MondoMelinda and Lago di Mollaro

MondoMelinda offers a distinctive experience. There, guided tours are available through underground apple storage facilities located 300 metres deep in the old Rio Maggiore mine. To reach MondoMelinda, you can take the Trento–Malé–Mezzana train to Mollaro station and then continue on foot for approximately eight minutes.

Lago di Mollaro appeals to travellers interested in fishing. For 2025, the lake is associated with a period from 1 January to 30 September during which natural and artificial bait are among the permitted options. This defined time frame makes the lake a destination that can be assessed specifically according to your preferred travel period.

Castles and Peaks in the Surrounding Area

The area around Mollaro is home to Castel Thun, Castello di Cles and the ruins of Castel Sporo Rovina. These three destinations extend the cultural radius beyond the Chiesa di San Marco and give your trip planning different points of connection between preserved castle architecture and ruins.

The peaks of Cima d'Arza, Monte Cuc, Bodrina and Corno di Tres are also located around Mollaro. Alongside the church, art and castles, this adds a scenic focus.
