La Romola: Hills, Woodland and Paths

Churches and Historic Traces

The Cappella dei Tani in La Romola was built in 1644. The parish church of Santa Maria alla Romola is first mentioned in a document dated January 25, 1298. It features a cycle of dome frescoes depicting the Coronation of the Virgin, dating from 1753 to 1755. Historically, the Cappellina was the center of the Corpus Christi procession, a fair held on the second Tuesday in July, and the mass on August 5.

Walking along Via della Poggiona

Via della Poggiona is a flat, scenic unpaved road lined with cypress trees and old farmhouses. When planning a walk, both the flat route and the unpaved surface are relevant. The cypress trees and old farmhouses accompany the route as visible features of the trail.
