Punta Ala: Beach, Nature and History by the Sea

The area includes Mediterranean maquis, holm oak forests and the vegetation of the rocky coastline. Centro Ippico Punta Ala offers group and individual riding lessons for beginners, advanced riders, experienced riders and competition riders. You can therefore choose between cycling options with different trail characteristics and riding lessons for various levels of experience.

Architectural History and Culture

The area’s architectural history also has several distinct layers. Castello Balbo – Forte di Punta Ala – dates from the second half of the 16th century. It was built on the orders of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany to defend against repeated incursions by the Turks. Torre Hidalgo – Torre del Barbiere – was built in 1577 as a coastal observation tower. The Chiesa della Signora della Consolata was built in 1961 in a modern style. Punta Ala therefore brings together an early modern defensive structure, a coastal observation tower and a modern church, representing different historical periods.
