Springs and Notable Places

The public natural spring Fonte La Pollina is located on Via del Monte Serra in Ruota and is part of the “Via della Buona Acqua” project of the Municipality of Capannori. It is a clearly identifiable point along one of the village’s roads.

At the entrance to Ruota stands the complex of the Chiesa di San Bartolomeo, in an elevated, secluded position between woods and olive groves. Its location creates a direct connection between the village entrance, the church complex and the rural surroundings.

Mountain Bike Routes and Views

A mountain bike route continues from Ruota to Colle del Monumento. A proposed mountain bike route also runs from Badia di Cantignano over the summit of Monte Serra at 812 metres above sea level, through Ruota and Colle del Monumento, to Pieve di Compito.

In the area of Colle del Monumento, the route leads from the church of Ruota to the Monumento dei Caduti. From there, views extend towards villages at lower elevations among the hills of Lucca. Along the mountain bike route, Ruota has several springs for water supplies during the journey.

Flower Carpets for Corpus Christi

Ruota Borgo is one of the places in Capannori where traditional flower carpets are created for Corpus Christi. Alongside the Christmas tradition, the church calendar therefore also points to a visible local form of communal customs.
