Barbarasco between its church, green spaces and festivals

Barbarasco can be experienced through several distinct features: religious tradition, a spacious green area and seasonal festivals. The Church of Saints Quiricus and Giulitta is located in the Località la Fiera. One special tradition is the solemn procession in which the urn containing the body of Saint Quiricus is carried through Barbarasco every four years. The church and procession give the village a religious and cultural character.

The area covers 11,313 m², and the park contains chestnut trees. Parco Fiera is also equipped with playground equipment. If you are traveling with children, you can include this specific area in your daily plans without overlooking Barbarasco’s cultural side.

Festivals featuring chestnuts, polenta and regional character

Events also shape the different aspects of Barbarasco described here. The program of the 2024 Fiera di San Quirico included a fair at Parco Fiera in Barbarasco. The Fiera d'autunno e della castagna was scheduled for October 5, 2025, at Parco Fiera in Barbarasco; chestnut products were to be offered there. The Sagra della Polenta e della Castagna was scheduled for October 5 and 12, 2025, as well as October 19 and 26. These autumn dates therefore combine chestnuts and polenta.

Another culinary event was scheduled for June 27, 2026: the Sagra Polenta e Capra was planned for that day at Parco Fiera di Barbarasco. The different names also make it clear that the events are not limited to a single festival theme. For your travel planning, the summer and autumn dates therefore offer different cultural and culinary focuses to consider when choosing your travel period.

Summer Event and Carnevale

“Locura” was scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Parco Fiera di Barbarasco. The summer event was planned as an occasion for young people from Lunigiana to come together locally and spend their free time.

The Carnevale di Barbarasco adds another distinctive element. It includes a parade of floats prepared by the various districts. The festival is characterized by lively atmospheres, colors and masks. For visitors who want to discover local festivals through their visual presentation, this creates a different picture of Barbarasco than the procession or the autumn events: the focus is on floats prepared collectively and a colorful festive atmosphere.

The timing of your trip to Barbarasco is particularly important if you want to include one of the scheduled events in your plans. Whether you choose a hotel or another type of accommodation, you can base your decision on your personal focus: religious tradition at the church, green space and playground equipment at Parco Fiera, autumn chestnut and polenta events, or the colors and masks of Carnevale. This makes Barbarasco a manageable yet sufficiently varied destination for different interests.
