River Landscapes and Historical Traces

An old bridge with low arches was once a compulsory crossing in Pontebosio for reaching the parishes of Soliera and Venelia. The remains of an old paper mill can be seen by the river. The fief of Pontebosio became independent under Ludovico Malaspina in 1631 and existed until the abolition of the fiefs in 1797. Castello di Poderetto was built by the Malaspina di Podenzana at the beginning of the 17th century as a fortified residence. The parish church of Pontebosio is in the Baroque style. The inauguration in September 2017 marks a more recent period alongside the older references to the fief and residence.
