The Fortezza Medicea di Poggio Imperiale was built between 1488 and 1511 by the architect Giuliano da Sangallo on behalf of Lorenzo dei Medici. Its period of construction and the name of its architect make it a particularly tangible gateway to the architectural history of Poggibonsi.

The Fortezza Medicea di Poggio Imperiale includes the Cassero with its bastions, as well as approximately 1.5 km of fortress walls with ramparts. The Basilica di San Lucchese is a Gothic basilica in the Val d’Elsa. Works by Cennino Cennini can be viewed inside it. Architecture and art come together directly here, complementing the fortress-related part of the town’s history with a sacred element.

The Santuario di Romituzzo houses around 5,000 ex-votos collected from 1400 to the present day.

The Via Francigena variant "Fondovalle Poggibonizio" is a route approximately 28.5 km long that begins in the area of San Gimignano and reaches and crosses Poggibonsi.
