Sandrigo combines Italian architectural heritage, a certified cultural route and a recurring event with a culinary connection. The town is therefore suitable for travel planning that considers architecture, history and regional cuisine together.

Architectural Heritage and Cultural Route

Palazzo Mocenigo was built in the centre of Lupia at the end of the 16th century and restored after being acquired by the municipality of Sandrigo in 1988. The Via Querinissima provides the broader historical context: it is a cultural route certified by the Council of Europe, within whose international network Sandrigo is considered an important stage.

Churches, Oratories and Villas

The Oratorio di San Francesco di Paola houses a Rococo altar made of white Berici stone. The Oratorio Trissino in Sandrigo was commissioned in 1610 and is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The Church of Santa Maria e dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo has a Latin-cross floor plan, a large dome and a Baroque façade inspired by Palladian architecture.

In the hamlet of Ancignano, Villa Mascotto was built in the 17th century. Over time, particularly in the 19th century, it was remodelled and renovated. Villa Sesso Tonolli Bordignon is an old Gothic-style villa; work carried out in the 18th century gave the present complex, with a main building, the Oratorio San Gaetano and a barchessa, its current form.

The Church of San Pancrazio in Ancignano was built and consecrated in 1531. However, the complex is considered older and is dated approximately to the 13th century. In Lupia, the parish church of Santo Stefano is a well-preserved example of flourishing Gothic architecture; it has largely retained its original appearance from the 15th century.

Culinary Connection and Torrente Astico

The Festa del Bacalà alla Vicentina has been held every year in Sandrigo since 1989. For visitors interested in regional cuisine, it is a distinct point of interest alongside the architecture. The Torrente Astico also has a clearly defined connection with fishing: the fishing concession of A.S.D. Bacino Astico Leogra covers the Torrente Astico, including its tributaries and outlets, from the village of Ristel in the municipality of Lastebasse to the bridge on the S.P. 248 in the municipality of Sandrigo.
