The coastal landscape of Torre Lapillo is shaped by an approximately 4 km-long main beach on the Ionian coast.

Beach, coves and dunes

In addition to the main beach, the coastal landscape of Torre Lapillo includes small hidden coves and areas with sand dunes. Snorkelling, swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing and kayaking are offered on the beach as water sports activities. Beach resorts also offer the option of renting kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. With a beach extending for approximately 4 km, choosing a specific stretch can be relevant when planning a day in Torre Lapillo. Marine nature off Torre Lapillo

The coast is part of a marine landscape with different habitats. Most of the underwater caves in the Porto Cesareo marine reserve are located in the marine area off the coast of Torre Lapillo. A detailed mapping of the marine habitats between Torre Lapillo and Torre Squillace identified at least 10 different habitat types there. This figure refers to the marine area studied and does not describe merely the beach or the town area.

The wildlife is also part of this coastal landscape: juvenile loggerhead turtles, scientifically known as Caretta caretta, have been sighted off the coast of Torre Lapillo. The precise designation as juvenile specimens is important because it reports a specific observation and makes no broader statement about the species' population.

Diving, snorkelling and paddling

The Orca Diving Center offers diving courses from Open Water Diver level through instructor training. It also offers speciality, technical, freediving and environmental courses, as well as excursions. Guided dives and guided snorkelling trips are available for individual outings. The center also offers equipment rental and stand-up paddleboard rental. Thus, the documented water sports offering includes structured training as well as guided activities and rental options.

The Torre Lapillo tower

A historic building is the Torre di Torre Lapillo, also known as Torre di San Tommaso, which was recently restored. Its former function was not limited to that of a watchtower: the Torre di San Tommaso served as a signal point for defence and was intended to warn residents inland of approaching enemy ships.

The Lapillo Tower in Torre Lapillo houses the visitor centre of the regional reserve. This brings together the building's historical significance and an orientation towards the protected marine landscape. The patron saint's festival in August

Every August, Torre Lapillo celebrates the Feast of the Assumption as the town's patron saint's festival. The festivities include traditional light decorations, marching bands and fireworks over the waterfront promenade.
