Castello Longobardo and Panoramic Views

Castello Longobardo has been documented since the end of the 12th century. It is attributed to a Norman-Swabian, an Angevin and an Aragonese phase of development. Romanesque Churches and Palazzo Ducale

The Chiesa della SS Annunziata is a Romanesque church built approximately in the 16th century. It contains two large paintings depicting the mystery of the Annunciation. The Chiesa di S. Nicola is also Romanesque and dates from around 1000 AD. This creates a chronological contrast between two religious buildings from clearly different periods.

The Palazzo Ducale del Balzo is an imposing 17th-century palace. Its portal bears the family coat of arms; decorated windows and balconies, along with frescoes, complete its appearance. Technical Dimensions and Ancient History

The “Domenico Cimarosa” hydroelectric power station is a closed-loop hydroelectric facility. It consists of two reservoirs, each with a capacity of approximately 6 million cubic meters, and a relative difference in elevation of about 500 meters. In terms of size, the facility is considered the largest hydroelectric power station in Italy and the second-largest in Europe. Presenzano therefore offers not only architectural history but also a technical attraction of unusual dimensions.

In connection with Presenzano, Antica Rufrae is regarded as an ancient Samnite control center. The amphitheater of Antica Rufrae belongs to a settlement of Samnite origin and is located in the village of Taverna San Felice. The site thus connects a tangible structure with the history of an older settlement.

Il Borgo dei Briganti returned to Presenzano for its third edition in 2024, held on May 4, 2024, at 8 p.m. The historic center was transformed into a themed brigand village featuring traditional crafts, performers, brigand music, staged scenes and fire shows.
