Hiking in a hilly landscape

Part of the Contrafforte Pliocenico nature reserve lies within the Monzuno area. The area is of great geological, faunal and ecological interest. The paths around Monzuno pass through hilly landscapes, lush forests and green meadows and offer panoramic views. Churches and historic town centers

Monzuno is home to the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo di Brigola, dating from 1660. In addition, a parish church dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist is known to have existed as early as the 14th century; the present building dates from the late 19th century. The church of Saint John thus combines its ecclesiastical historical connection to the 14th century with the present building from the late 19th century. The two churches bring different historical periods into the local history.

Gabbiano is a village in the municipality of Monzuno with traditional stone houses and a recently restored fountain. Art at the town hall and Bolognese mountain cuisine

MARTE – Museo Arte Monzuno originated from a cataloging project for works of art donated to the municipality of Monzuno by numerous artists. These artists lived there, worked there or merely passed through. The works in MARTE are displayed in the town hall, so they can be seen by people visiting the offices there.

Bolognese mountain cuisine in Monzuno includes mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and fragrant bread. Alongside hiking trails and historic sites, these ingredients add a culinary focus. The combination of mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and bread complements the cultural and landscape themes with a specific regional cuisine.
