Ponte della Venturina between the Reno, hiking trails and history

The present-day bridge also bears traces of history: it was rebuilt in 1947 in its original stone structure. In the Middle Ages, the Via Francesca della Sambuca was a secondary route of the Via Francigena. It connected Pistoia with the Castello della Sambuca and then continued through the Reno Valley to Bologna. The route led by Trekking col treno runs from Ponte della Venturina via Fondamento, Pian di Campo, Pavana, Capanna, the castello di Sambuca, Ca' di Giamba, Casale, Poggio Pruno, Posola and Ca' di Bocchi to Molino del Pallone.

The Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta di Ponte della Venturina is part of the area's history. It was completed and opened for worship in 1950.
