Ambrogio between History and the Valli Landscape

Ambrogio is one of the oldest districts of Copparo. Here, you can begin a journey in which historical references, sacred art, landscape and individual event dates come together. Particularly distinctive are the Valli di Ambrogio: they stretch from the River Po almost to the Po di Volano. To the west, they are bordered by the embankments of the Canal Bianco and the Brazzolo in the municipality of Copparo.

Sacred Art and Historical Traces

At the Chiesa dell’Annunciazione di Maria Santissima there is a bronze door created by Egidio Casagrande. Its panels depict scenes from the Stations of the Cross. For you, the particular appeal of this detail lies in the interplay of material, artist and religious representation. A historic land-reclamation road began somewhat south of the Ambrogio district and led to the central point of the land reclamation.

Culture in the Wider Regional Area

In the wider regional area around Ambrogio are the Civic Museum Civiltà in Polesine, a museum, and Palazzo Roncale, a palace. Both destinations broaden the cultural perspective beyond Ambrogio.

Planned Events and Sport

For the period from 17 May to 14 June 2025, the 26th national youth tournament Memorial “Resca-Gardinali” for the Giovanissimi and Allievi categories was scheduled to take place at the Campo Sportivo di Ambrogio. The Pro Loco Ambrogio APS also planned recreational activity workshops in Ambrogio for 2025. The Memorial spans approximately four weeks. The Memorial ends on 14 June, before the football tournament begins; there are five days between the two dates.

The seven-a-side football tournament “Play to the Whistle” was scheduled to take place from 19 June to 21 June 2025 at the Campo Sportivo di Ambrogio. After two editions at the “Decimo Preziosa” stadium in Copparo, it was to be held at the stadium in Ambrogio for the first time. “Una partita per Pippo Berneschi” was also scheduled for Monday, 22 June, at the sports field in Ambrogio; the gates were scheduled to open at 7:00 p.m. and kick-off was set for 8:00 p.m. For planning a visit, the tournament lasts three days; for the Monday event, one hour separates the opening of the gates from kick-off, the event follows immediately after the tournament, and both football events take place in Ambrogio in June 2025.
