Romanesque traces in Ganaceto
The Pieve di San Giorgio in Ganaceto is a Romanesque church built in the first half of the 12th century on the foundations of an older chapel. The apses and the first adjoining arcades survived their destruction at the beginning of the 14th century and were incorporated into the 15th-century reconstruction under Duke Borso d’Este. The church also contains a remarkable holy water font decorated with fantastical creatures and winged sirens.
