Ozzano Taro Between River, Pilgrimage Route and Culture
Ozzano Taro combines a flat river landscape with cultural sites and routes that showcase different ways of travelling. Cycling Through the Taro Landscape
The first route of the Ciclovia del Taro reaches Ozzano Taro after Villanova and then continues via Gaiano to complete the loop. The second circular route runs along the Taro and old canals. It follows a flat nature trail through woods and gravelly riverbed areas. From Ozzano, the circular cycling route in the Parco Fluviale del Taro makes it possible to return via Via Ripa to Gaiano and onward to the Boschi di Carrega. Riverbanks, woodland and historic local connections are therefore among the defining features of these cycling routes.
Museums with Personal Stories
The Museo Ettore Guatelli is located in Collecchio, in the Ozzano Taro district. It displays everyday objects and work tools collected by Ettore Guatelli in artistic and poetic installations. The first collection was created in the granary of the Podere Bella Foglia estate. The museum was later expanded from the granary to the farmhouse, which also includes the rooms inhabited by the Guatelli family. Around the Museo Ettore Guatelli, there is an established network of themed routes covering the area's natural, historical and culinary heritage. The museum has also been included in the recognised network of homes and studios of notable figures in Emilia-Romagna.
The Casa-museo di Mario Alinovi
Another cultural facet of Ozzano Taro is the Casa-museo di Mario Alinovi. The villa, built in 1940, was bequeathed by the artist to the municipality of Collecchio. It preserves workspaces with an easel and apron, as well as mosaics and sculptures. The Casa-museo has remained largely unchanged since the 1960s; at the same time, it preserves rooms used for everyday life. As a result, the focus is not only on the artistic work, but also on the spatial connection between work and daily life.
Via Francigena, Wine and Regional Specialties
The Via Francigena, the historic pilgrimage route to Rome, runs through Ozzano Taro as a dividing line between the vineyards of Monte delle Vigne. There, the visitor experience includes a guided tour of the winery explaining the wine-making processes. The tasting experience includes a combination of typical regional salami and Parmigiano Reggiano. This makes it possible to combine Ozzano Taro's landscape with regional culinary culture and a historic pilgrimage route.
