Remanzacco combines nature trails, archaeological traces and impressive evidence of regional history. Between the Troi des Canaiis circular trail, the churches of San Giovanni Battista and Santo Stefano, the Gino Tonutti Museum and the astronomical observatory, there are different ways to get to know the town in your own way. Parco Cibert also adds its own distinctive touch with facilities for children and cycling enthusiasts.
Trails, River Landscape and Parco Cibert
The Troi des Canaiis is a 5.1 km circular trail that begins at Parco Cibert. The Archaeological Trail begins at the parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Remanzacco and leads to the remains of the rural church of San Martino, approximately 3 km from Remanzacco.
The nature trails in Parco del Torre e del Malina offer another perspective on the landscape. They run mainly along the banks of the Malina River. The banks of the Malina therefore shape the character of these trails and give walks a clearly recognisable natural orientation.
Parco Cibert is a public park in Remanzacco with inclusive play equipment for children. A bike park and a new pump track have also been inaugurated there. The park is therefore just as appealing to families as it is to visitors interested in cycling and specially designed tracks.
Churches, Art and Museum
The parish church of San Giovanni Battista in Remanzacco dates from 1535. The date is confirmed by an inscription on the façade. Remanzacco is also home to a relief polyptych whose style is unequivocally attributed to Giovanni Martini and which is dated to the period between 1510 and 1515.
In the church of Santo Stefano, the lintel above the entrance bears the date 11 May 1500. Such precise indications of year and day give on-site historical exploration a particularly concrete point of reference.
The Gino Tonutti Museum is located in Orzano, a hamlet of Remanzacco. It comprises four sections covering industrial archaeology, agricultural machinery, vintage cars and motorcycles. More than 200 objects in the blacksmith's workshop and the machinery section bear witness to the family's work in manufacturing agricultural equipment. The museum therefore appeals not only to those interested in the history of technology, but also brings part of the craft and agricultural past to light.
Astronomy in Remanzacco
The astronomical observatory is operated by the Associazione Friulana di Astronomia e Meteorologia and offers activities in the fields of study, research, and scientific and educational outreach. During group visits, weather permitting, a guided identification of the constellations in the observatory meadow and observation with operational telescopes may be offered.
