Diano Marina: Coast, Culture and Culinary Delights

Diano Marina combines maritime activities with archaeological history, special events and Ligurian culinary culture. This makes it possible to plan the destination both for relaxing days by the sea and for cultural discoveries, cycling tours and culinary experiences.

Sandy Coast and Activities by the Sea

The coast of Diano Marina stretches for 3,500 metres and is sandy. Along this stretch of coast, you will find numerous bathing establishments, free beaches, equipped free beaches and private hotel beaches. The bathing season lasts from 1 May to 30 September.

Possible activities by the sea include water aerobics, sailing, windsurfing, SUP, beach volleyball and guided dives. Diano Marina also offers boat trips for whale and dolphin watching. The maritime offering therefore ranges from active hours on the beach to excursions out to sea.

Archaeology, Architectural History and Local Festivals

The archaeological section of the Museo Civico MARM traces the history of the Golfo Dianese across 10 rooms. The area covered stretches from Capo Berta to Capo Cervo, while the period covered runs from prehistoric times to the late Roman period. The museum also highlights the wreck of Diano Marina: a dolia ship that sank in the Golfo Dianese around the middle of the 1st century AD.

Individual buildings also lend a historical character to a stay. Alpicella's Tower is located at the highest point of Capo Berta, 267 metres above sea level. The Church of the Sacred Heart dates from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and features Neo-Gothic architectural and decorative elements.

A colourful event is the Infiorata del Corpus Domini. It takes place every year in the evening and during the night before Corpus Christi in Via Genala and Piazza Martiri della Libertà. Around one million coloured flower petals are used for the designs, supplied by the municipality through a horticultural company in 100 sacks.

Cycling and Outdoor Activities around Diano Marina

Since April 2026, Diano Marina has been part of the Ciclovia Tirrenica “Riviera dei Fiori”. The “Golfo dianese” section allows people to walk and cycle from Diano Marina to Andora for approximately 7 kilometres along a former railway line. The route passes through the municipalities of San Bartolomeo al Mare and Cervo.

For further active days, the offering includes Dianese Outdoor Trekking, trail running, urban walks, freeride and cross-country activities. Cycling enthusiasts can also watch the regular passage of the Milano-Sanremo in Diano Marina, before the famous climb to Capo Berta.

Aromatic Herbs and Ligurian Products

Aromatica is Diano Marina's major event dedicated to aromatic herbs, typical Ligurian products, and excellence in food, wine and agricultural and food products. The programme includes cooking shows, workshops, tastings, guided tours and excursions, four-hands dinners and a street-food area.
