Tremezzina between the lakeside, villas and Rogaro

Villas and historical traces

Villa Mainona is one of the earliest historically documented examples of a stately villa with a large garden on the lakeside. It was built between 1670 and 1672 for the Mainoni family, who came from Intignano, a hamlet of Tremezzo. Another personal connection leads to Villa Sola Cabiati: it hosted Giuseppe Parini from 1754, when he worked there as a tutor to the owner's children. Villa Sola Cabiati also has a lakeside landing stage added in 1813, which was built according to a design by Francesco Bernardino Ferrari.

Rogaro: panoramic setting and local tradition

Rogaro is a hilly hamlet of Tremezzo with panoramic views and rural stone houses. Rogaro also has a tradition of growing a distinctive local variety of asparagus. In the village centre stands the Oratorio della Madonna di Einsiedeln, built in 1733.
