Offanengo: Museum, Churches and the Cycle Path along the Canale Vacchelli

Offanengo combines agricultural and craft work, sacred architecture, a local tradition and routes for outdoor exercise.

Museum and Churches in Offanengo

The Museo della Civiltà Contadina di Offanengo has a collection of around 400 objects. They document aspects of agricultural and craft work. In this way, the museum illustrates two specific areas of the local working world.

The Oratorio di S. Rocco was built around the first half of the 16th century on the occasion of the plague epidemic of 1527/28. Its apse is decorated with frescoes that were certainly executed after 1566. The building and the frescoes are therefore dated differently.

Today's Collegiata di Offanengo is dedicated to Santa Maria Purificata and dates from 1896. Its predecessor was demolished that year. Inside, three naves, alternating arches and classically designed pilasters structure the space.

The Chiesa della Madonna del Pozzo was built at the end of the 18th century to replace a small, remote oratory. Its name derives from the well that still exists today in the hermit's house. This building currently serves as the caretaker's house.

Green Space and Cycle Route

Parco Dossello Offanengo is an equipped green space for walks and outdoor activities. There is also a fitness trail there. The facility thus combines exercise and relaxation in green surroundings.

The Percorso 04a loop route runs from Offanengo to Trigolo and back. It is 23.6 kilometres long; 14.8 kilometres consist of unpaved sections. The duration is approximately two hours. In Offanengo, the route starts in the town centre. It initially uses a combined cycle and footpath, and later the cycle path along the Canale Vacchelli. For planning the day, the distance, surface and duration of this route can be considered separately. Anyone planning additional breaks should schedule them in addition to the approximately two-hour timeframe. The unpaved sections are part of the route and can be taken into account when choosing a bicycle and one's riding style. The return journey to Offanengo is already included in the route; the kilometre figure therefore describes the complete loop and not just the route to Trigolo. With its approximate duration, the cycle tour requires its own time slot. Anyone who would like to spend more time in the town afterwards should not include this stay in the route's approximately two hours. The unpaved kilometres can independently be taken into account when deciding on the bicycle and riding style.
