Traces, churches and local history

At Bagaggera in Rovagnate, traces of both Neanderthals and Homo sapiens have been preserved. The site broadens the cultural perspective beyond buildings and settlements and directs attention to a very long human past.

The Chiesa di Sant'Ambrogio in Monte represents a clearly dated period in the local history. The laying and blessing of the foundation stone took place on 9 March 1939, and the church was consecrated on 28 March 1940. In 1922, Villa Sacro Cuore was entrusted to the Gioventù Femminile di Milano, which transformed it into a spiritual retreat. The rural settlement of Galbusera, formerly Valbisera, has been documented since 1348.

At Faido, there are a chapel with a large stone cross and a sandstone statue on a pedestal depicting a skeleton and bearing the name La Mort de Ruagnà.
