Discover Davini: Moraine Landscape, Culture and Trails along the Mincio
Corte Davini is located in the moraine hills of Lake Garda. For planning your trip, this provides a landscape-focused setting where nature, cycle paths, history and regional tastings can be combined without having to assign all experiences to the same place.
Landscape between the Lake, Wetlands and Mincio Valley
The “Castellaro Lagusello Moraine Complex Regional Nature Reserve” encompasses a small lake, the surrounding wetlands and the hill area of Monte Tondo. The total area is 138.6 hectares. A landscaped terrace path in Monzambano, overlooking the Mincio Valley, offers a different impression of the landscape.
Castellaro Lagusello can be reached from Corte Davini by bicycle in approximately 15–20 minutes. This approximate time indication is suitable for realistic day planning, while allowing for actual conditions along the way. For travel orientation, Peschiera del Garda railway station is 8 km from Corte Davini.
Cycle Paths and Trail Experiences
A paved path in Monzambano forms the tourist route “Dal castello al fiume”. For longer bicycle tours, there is also a 43-kilometre cycle path that runs along the Mincio River and passes through Monzambano. The different route lengths help you distinguish between short outings and more extensive bicycle excursions in your planning.
Churches, Fortifications and Local History
The hamlet of Olfino is home to the Romanesque church of Santissima Trinità, with traces of 16th-century frescoes. Castello di Monzambano took its present form in the 13th century, replacing an earlier fortification. The parish church of San Michele Arcangelo was built between 1743 and 1777 to a design by the architect Domenico Rossi.
San Michele Arcangelo has a single-nave layout. A fresco from 1777 in the vault depicts the “Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes”; the work is by Giorgio Telliè. In Castellaro Lagusello, the parish church of San Nicola also contains a wooden statue of the Madonna dating from the 15th century.
The sport of tamburello is also part of the local history of Castellaro Lagusello: the Ennio Guerra club has promoted it there continuously since 1946.
Tastings and Regional Experiences
The Sagra di San Bartolomeo takes place annually and offers traditional dishes as well as tastings of local wines. The Bio Natural experience includes visits to fields and a laboratory, as well as a tasting of the products. Bio Natural also demonstrates the processing of medicinal herbs; organic oil and natural wine are produced there.
The Olive Oil experience includes visits to olive groves, an oil mill and a laboratory, as well as an oil tasting. The Festa dell'Uva includes a tasting of local wines. A historical re-enactment has also formed part of this event every year since 1990.
