Church Art and Historic Sites

Busto Garolfo is home to historic religious buildings, an 18th-century house and garden complex, and Parco del Roccolo with its flat agricultural landscape. This allows you to explore the area through its cultural history and natural environment.

The Chiesa di San Remigio already existed in the 13th century and had the adjoining Ospedale dei Poveri. The church contains a 16th-century Pietà and an Annunciation by Bartolomeo Vandone dating from 1654.

The Chiesa Parrocchiale dei Santi Salvatore e Margherita was built in the 16th century on the site of a church that had already existed in the 13th century. It contains a wooden choir stall created by Carlo Garavaglia in 1642. The church also preserves paintings by Giovanni Battista Crespi (il Cerano) and Carlo Naymiller.

The Oratorio della Madonna della Neve was founded in 1669, demolished in 1934, and rebuilt in a form similar to the original building. The Oratorio contains a fresco removed from an earlier 16th-century chapel.

Casa Battaglia is an 18th-century house and garden complex with late Baroque and neoclassical features. The area around Busto Garolfo is also home to the Villa Ottolini-Tovaglieri palace, Palazzo Cicogna, the Civico Busto Arsizio museum, and Villa Visconti Borromeo Arese Litta.

Landscape and Birdlife

Parco del Roccolo in Busto Garolfo is a flat agricultural landscape with a well-preserved and still-used irrigation system consisting of ditches diverted from the Villoresi, as well as woodland, hedges and rows of trees.

Numerous bird species live in Parco del Roccolo, including the now-rare Eurasian sparrowhawk, the hoopoe and the woodpecker. Several gravel pits and wetlands were created as a result of gravel and sand extraction.

Cycling and Walking Routes

The Bosco della Brughierezza in Parco del Roccolo can be reached from Via Casorezzo by bicycle or on foot via a footpath. Via Casorezzo is one block from the car park of Parco Falcone Borsellino.

The Ciclovia del Canale Villoresi runs for 7 km from Busto Garolfo, Via Inveruno, to Parabiago, Via Einaudi. It follows the service road along the canal, which is used by the Consorzio Est Ticino Villoresi for administration and maintenance. When using it by bicycle, the route’s primary function must be observed; the speed must not exceed 15 km/h. Some sections have neither railings nor an asphalt surface.

The area around Busto Garolfo is home to Parco Pirandello, Parco Villa Visconti - Banfi and Parco Bassetti.
