In Garbagnate Milanese, protected landscapes, regional cultural heritage and distinctive church buildings come together. The town thus offers different ways to experience Northern Italy: you can combine nature and cycling activities with insights into the rural past, sacred architecture and local everyday history.

Parco delle Groane and Botanical Trails

Parco delle Groane is a regional protected area established in 1976. Its landscape includes protected oak forests and Scots pine. A cycling network of around 50 kilometres is available there for bicycle excursions. The park can also be accessed from the railway station, which can be practical when finding your way around Garbagnate Milanese.

A particular feature is the Percorso Botanico dell’ex ospedale di Garbagnate M.se. The trail is 2 kilometres long, is located near the former hospital of Garbagnate Milanese and runs directly alongside a cycle path. Its division into the areas of learning, getting to know and exploring makes botanical observation the central theme of this trail.

Museums and Places of Remembrance

The Museo di Siolo presents a permanent exhibition on farming tools and kilns in restored rooms of Cascina Siolo. The sections focus, among other things, on fieldwork, silkworm breeding, the farmhouse, courtyard, farmyard, stable and kilns. On display are objects from the material and rural culture of Garbagnate and the Alto Milanese dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Visits to the Museo di Siolo are possible on request or as part of scheduled events and require a reservation.

The Museo Diffuso di Garbagnate preserves oral memories through audio documents and video interviews. Written documents and images are also digitised. Alongside the visible buildings, the town’s transmitted history is therefore a central focus. The Cinema Teatro Italia is Garbagnate Milanese’s historic cinema and theatre.

Churches in the Townscape

The Santuario della Beata Vergine del Rosario is a longitudinal church with three naves and side chapels. Its construction period extends from the 16th century to the middle of the 20th century. At the centre is the Basilica SS. Eusebio e Maccabei, a church built in 1940 with a Latin-cross floor plan and three naves. On the right is a smaller entrance that is accessible by wheelchair.

Local Traditions and Your Stay

The local offering also includes Laghetto della Fametta in Parco delle Groane, a sport-fishing centre with a restaurant and bar. Pasticceria Borella is associated with the year 1974 in Garbagnate Milanese as a historic artisan pastry shop and ice-cream parlour. La Refezione is associated with the year 1983 as a historic catering establishment. These different points of interest complement the nature and cultural themes with local food culture and long-established gastronomic connections.
