Nature and waterbirds at Lamberin

The Lamberin area includes riverside woodland along an irrigation canal, extensive reed beds and open woodland. Willows, white poplars and black alders grow in the riverside woodland; the open woodland is home to oaks, black alders and willows. The area’s landscape therefore includes a range of different trees and vegetation.

Waterbirds also give Lamberin its distinctive natural character: the most common include herons, mallards, moorhens, great crested grebes and gulls. Those interested in habitats can explore the different areas described—from the riverside woodland along the canal to reed beds and open woodland—alongside this diversity of species.

Abbazia di Mirasole and church architecture

Visiting hours and the audio guide are two separate things to consider when planning a visit to the Abbazia di Mirasole. The church and cloister are open for independent visits daily, Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; opening hours may change, so check the times before your visit. The municipality last updated its information on January 14, 2025.

From Wednesday to Sunday, audio guides for visiting the abbey complex can be borrowed free of charge during the Punto Ristoro’s opening hours. Borrowing an audio guide is subject to these hours. Check whether audio guides are currently available before travelling.

Another architectural highlight is the Chiesa della Madonna dell’Aiuto. The church is oriented north–south and has a large forecourt, partly paved. Its architectural features also include a portico on small stone columns with a triangular pediment. The building’s orientation, forecourt and portico offer different ways to appreciate its architecture.

Agriculture, play and exercise

At Cascina Montalbano, cooking workshops complement the agricultural activities. Visits and workshops require a reservation. During the school year, children can take part in activities exploring the countryside and agriculture; check the details with the organiser. Activity weeks for children aged 3 to 12 are also offered in summer. It is best to ask the organiser about dates and availability in advance.

Parco dello Sport combines a range of sports and play facilities: it has basketball, small-sided football and volleyball courts, as well as a children’s area with play equipment and a picnic area. The municipality last updated information about these facilities on September 4, 2025. The site therefore offers sports facilities, as well as a separate children’s area with a picnic option.

For a longer outing, the Calvenzano–Viboldone–Mirasole cycling route leads to Mirasole. It runs through flat terrain, is suitable for families and for winter, and can be ridden by bicycle or mountain bike. Check local conditions before setting out. Unlike the individual facilities at Parco dello Sport, this tour connects several place names along one route; the characteristics described here refer to the route.
