Senago combines a varied villa landscape with the Groane natural area. Part of the municipality lies within Parco delle Groane.

Architecture with Lombard Influences

Villa Borromeo stands on an artificial hill in the Senago area. Its development spans several centuries: a fortification was transformed into a villa di delizia. The park of Villa Borromeo covers 100,000 square metres and contains a botanical garden. The 100,000-square-metre park area forms a separate part of the estate. In Senago, Villa Borromeo is also one of the sites of historical and artistic interest.

Villa Corbella-Martinelli-Sioli also reflects changing ownership. It passed from the Corbella family to the Martinelli family, then to the Archbishops of Milan and subsequently to Angelo Sioli. Fragments of a painted trompe-l'œil portal remain on its inner façade. This is associated with the perspectival illusionism of Lombard Baroque residences. The Church of San Bernardo, once part of the villa, is located near it.

Villa Verzolo-Monzini was built by the Monzini family around the middle of the 18th century. Around 1850, it was converted into a villa, with frescoed ceilings created at that time that are still visible. Another historic architectural site is the BICS—Biblioteca Italo Calvino Senago. It is housed in a building constructed in the second half of the 18th century. The ground-level entrance to BICS is on Parco Monzini and can be reached via Via Don Ambrogio Rocca and Via Repubblica. For orientation around Parco Monzini, Via Don Ambrogio Rocca and Via Repubblica provide two specific street references.

Cycling Along the Canale Villoresi

The “Ville Storiche e Groane” cycling tour offers another perspective on Senago. It is considered suitable for everyone and follows the path along the Canale Villoresi towards Senago. Along this route, you can visit Villa Ponti. You also cycle for 2 kilometres along the Canale Villoresi and then reach the Fornace Parodi. For personal day planning, the 2 kilometres along the Canale Villoresi can be treated as a separate section of the route.

The Culinary Context of the Province of Milan

In culinary terms, Senago belongs to the Province of Milan. Salame Brianza and Salame Milano are among the typical cured meats there. Saffron risotto, also known as risotto alla milanese, is another typical first course of the Province of Milan and one of the region's specialities; the version served with ossobuco is included among them.

Those using the Milan Cadorna–Saronno line can get off at Garbagnate Milanese and change to the GTM H306 bus towards Palazzolo Milanese. Changing at Garbagnate Milanese divides the journey into a train section and a bus section.
