Paderno Dugnano brings together nature, landscape history and an unusual park development in Parco Lago Nord. Parco Lago Nord is a former quarry that was transformed into a park with a fairytale atmosphere. The park has entrances via Via Valassina, Via San Michele del Carso and the car park of the shopping centre. If you are looking for a place where a distinctive landscape transformation is combined with practical orientation on site, Parco Lago Nord is a prominent focal point in Paderno Dugnano.

Parco Lago Nord: Nature and Environmental History

The rare praying mantis species Ameles spallanzania, the Spallanzani’s mantis, has been observed in Parco Lago Nord. For travellers interested in landscapes and wildlife observation, this provides a specific natural aspect without reducing the park to a single theme. There are also two awards: in 1999, Parco Lago Nord received the “Premio Comunità Europea per il miglior recupero ambientale di una cava di sabbia e ghiaia” in Strasbourg. In 2003, it received the “Premio Piazza Mercanti” from the Camera di Commercio di Milano in the “Tutela Ambientale” category in Milan. The two awards add a clear connection to the ecological transformation of the site to the park landscape as it exists today.

Percorsi Urbani and Colour-Coded Circular Trails

The Percorsi Urbani project comprises more than 40 kilometres of trails and four interconnected circular routes in Paderno Dugnano. The circular routes are distinguished by the colours red, blue, orange and light blue. If you are including cycling or walks in your plans, the colour coding provides a simple way to keep the four routes conceptually separate. The combination of the total length and the colour-coded circular routes makes Percorsi Urbani a distinct theme for planning your day, without attributing unverified characteristics to individual routes.

Culture, Film and Theatre

Paderno Dugnano’s cultural profile extends beyond the park. The Tilane cultural centre hosts concerts, theatre performances, conferences, exhibitions and workshops. Cineteca Milano Metropolis in Paderno Dugnano is the Cineteca’s cinema for current first-run releases. Metropolis also offers theatre performances in cooperation with Teatro della Cooperativa di Milano.

Events in the Park

One clearly defined example in time was the LAGO programme 2026 at Parco Lago Nord. From 27 May to 6 September 2026, it included music, culture, wellness and activities for children; admission was free.

Villa Bossi Riboldi

Villa Bossi Riboldi is one of the notable architectural heritage sites in Paderno Dugnano. Together with Parco Lago Nord, Percorsi Urbani and the cultural venues Tilane and Metropolis, it provides a varied picture of the town between landscape, activity, film, theatre and architectural heritage.
