Camerata Picena lies on a 125-metre-high hill on the right bank of the Esino River, a few kilometres from its mouth. The hill above the Esino gives the town a distinct connection to the river landscape. Coastal destinations are also nearby, allowing different types of landscape to be distinguished when planning a trip.
Church and local history
The parish church Chiesa della Natività di Maria Vergine stands in the town. It dates from 1857 and occupies the site of an earlier church, which was already being built from 1389 onwards. The present building therefore stands on the same site as the earlier church. For those interested in culture, the building from 1857 and the predecessor church built from 1389 onwards are connected here through a single location.
Castello del Cassero
Castello del Cassero belongs to the municipality of Camerata Picena. Its rooms can be made available to individuals and groups, as well as to centres, cooperatives, associations and institutions of every kind. This option also applies to people and organisations active in the cultural, educational, social, humanitarian or philanthropic fields. Their own or others’ works, studies and intellectual contributions can be presented to the general public. The municipal ownership and the variety of user groups create a distinct focus alongside the parish church. Cultural projects therefore have a venue in the town that is not limited to a single organisational structure.
Museums, castle and monastery in the surrounding area
The Museo della Resistenza is a museum in the area surrounding Camerata Picena. Castello di Rocca Priora, a castle, is also located nearby. The Abbadia di Chiaravalle, a monastery, is likewise in the immediate surrounding area. The Diocesan Museum is another museum near Camerata Picena. For those interested in culture, the two museums, the castle and the monastery represent four different cultural attractions in the surrounding area. When planning a trip, these can be considered separately from the town’s church and Castello themes.
Beaches as another landscape connection
The coast is also connected to the area around Camerata Picena through specific destinations. Spiaggia di Falconara Marittim is a beach near Camerata Picena, as are Bersaglio beach and Spiaggia Marina di Rocca Priora. These three beach destinations complement the hilltop and cultural themes with a maritime aspect. Anyone wishing to include the sea alongside museums, the castle and the monastery will find three beach destinations around Camerata Picena. This creates a distinct coastal area for trip planning alongside the elevated location on the Esino.
