Music, History and Nature in Castelfidardo
Castelfidardo offers you a variety of points of interest if music, history and nature are part of a trip to Italy. The Museo Internazionale della Fisarmonica was opened on 9 May 1981. The townscape also features the Monumento alla Fisarmonica e al Lavoro, a work by sculptor Franco Campanari made of cast bronze. It was inaugurated on 13 October 2002 and is approximately seven metres high.

A historical perspective is provided by the Museo del Risorgimento di Castelfidardo. It opened in 1989 and is one of the first examples in Italy of a museum distributed throughout a territory and closely connected with the social and everyday life of the local community. The exhibition rooms convey the history of the historic clash between the Sardinian-Piedmontese and papal armies. At the same time, they provide insight into society in the Marche during the Risorgimento.
The Sacrario-Ossario commemorates those who fell in the Risorgimento battle of 18 September 1860. The Monumento Nazionale delle Marche is located near Castelfidardo’s historic centre, on Monte Cucco hill. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the same battle of 18 September 1860.
Accordion and Regional Culture
The connection between instrument making, music and public cultural life is also evident at the Premio Internazionale “Città di Castelfidardo”. The competition is dedicated to accordion playing for soloists and groups and was scheduled for the period from 9 September to 13 September 2026. For visitors interested in culture, this date can be a special opportunity to get to know Castelfidardo through its musical side.
The Selva di Castelfidardo
Standing in contrast to the museums and memorial sites is the Selva di Castelfidardo. The prehistoric forest covers 35 hectares and is characterised by rich biodiversity and special botanical value. This part of Castelfidardo therefore appeals to travellers who appreciate observing nature and a quieter day focused on the landscape.
The Selva di Castelfidardo is also a regionally protected floristic area. In July 2020, it received qualification as a Forest Bathing Center from AIMeF. Numerous accessible, characteristic paths run through the forest, including the Stradone di Mezzo, which extends along the entire length of the Selva di Castelfidardo.
Sightseeing and Special Places
Piazzale Don G. Minzoni is also known as Porta Marina and includes gardens and a viewing point. Visits to the art collection of Villa Ferretti were scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays from 13 June to 27 September 2026. The listed visits began at 18:30, lasted approximately 45 minutes and required a reservation by 12:00 on the same day.
Another unusual attraction is the Grotte di Palazzo Tomasini. They form Castelfidardo’s most extensive underground tunnel system and extend for more than 100 metres in total. Together with the museums, monuments and paths of the Selva, they create a multifaceted picture of the town, bringing historical themes, music and landscape into relation with one another.
