Caldirola combines mountain landscapes, hiking trails and a variety of destinations for excursions. When choosing accommodation for your trip, you can therefore consider the location based on the interests that shape your stay: hiking to high peaks, mountain bike trails, cultural and historical traces, or destinations in ValCurone Park.

Hiking to Monte Giarolo and Monte Ebro

The Caldirola–Monte Giarolo hiking trail begins in Caldirola. At kilometer 33+900 of SP 100, there is a car park and an information board about the trail. The route reaches the 1,473-meter-high summit of Monte Giarolo, crowned by the statue of Cristo Redentore. The route also includes Rifugio Ezio Orsi, located at an elevation of 1,397 meters.

A second notable hiking destination is Monte Ebro. The Caldirola–Monte Ebro hiking trail leads from Caldirola toward the Colonia Provinciale. Its first section climbs steadily uphill along a wooded slope with beech trees and laburnum. The trail reaches the 1,700-meter-high Monte Ebro; in clear weather, the summit offers a 360-degree panorama across the surrounding valleys to the Alps and the Ligurian Sea.

Mountain Bike Trails on the Mountain Slopes

Caldirola also offers specific trails for mountain biking. On the adjacent slopes of Monte GropĂ  and Monte Giarolo, there are eleven mountain bike trails accessible by chairlift. These include four downhill, three freeride, three all-mountain and one cross-country trail. The Charlie Race trail in Caldirola has already been used as a stage of the Gravitalia racing circuit. The division into downhill, freeride, all-mountain and cross-country makes trip planning easier when several types of trails and different riding profiles need to be taken into account for a multi-day stay.

Old Settlement and Historical Traces

Caldirola also has a tangible cultural and historical dimension. The old settlement lies on a rocky spur to the left of the Rio dei Gerbi. Caldirola is also mentioned in old documents dating from around 1190. These two points of reference connect the present-day landscape with a documented settlement history without reducing the location to a single historical theme.

Destinations for Different Travel Plans

The Alpine Coaster is located in Caldirola in ValCurone Park. In the Caldirola district of Fabbrica Curone, you will also find Fattoria L'Aurora, an educational farm. The Via del Sale is a three-day hiking route starting in Caldirola, leading to the Ligurian Riviera, and also known as the Via del Mare.

Choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Caldirola can therefore be tailored to the experiences you want: the trails to Monte Giarolo and Monte Ebro, the mountain bike trails, the old settlement, or the destinations in ValCurone Park. This allows you to keep the different sides of the location in view without presupposing the specific location of individual accommodations or their amenities.
