The area around Torrazzo is predominantly forested and crossed by numerous hiking and walking trails. A hike to Croceserra at an elevation of 853 metres follows the crest of the Serra’s main moraine ridge and offers views over the Canavese and Biellese areas. This creates a landscape theme in which forest, elevation, ridge path and far-reaching views come together.

The Sentiero Taglia Serra runs between Torrazzo and Sala Biellese. The trail has information panels about the hemp cycle from the field to the loom. If, while walking, you would also like to learn about regional production processes, the path itself has a clear thematic focus here.

Churches and chapels in Torrazzo

The parish church of Torrazzo is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was probably built on the remains of an ancient pagan temple. For visitors interested in culture, its appeal lies in the combination of a clear religious dedication with a history that is explicitly only probable.

The old Chapel of San Rocco, whose origins date back to the 17th century, was built at the entrance to Torrazzo during a period of severe plague epidemics. In 1635, it was erected through the efforts of the Prior of the Holy Rosary and the municipality, with the involvement of the entire population. On 16 August, the feast of Saint Roch, the chapel is the destination of a procession.

The Bocciodromo della Serra was historically the first covered bocce facility in the Biellese area and was inaugurated in 1967. This specific year also forms part of the history of the local buildings and adds another aspect of the area to the religious themes.

The MAT – Museo Aperto Torrazzo is conceived in Torrazzo as an open-air museum; its works are intended to be displayed outdoors.

In the area around Torrazzo are the Museo Ecomuseo Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea, Castello di Montalto and Museo Civico Pier Alessandro Garda. Also in the surrounding area are Colma di Mombarone, Monte Muanda, Punta Tre Vescovi, the natural arch Porta della Torrazza and the Seminary Palace.
