Churches, Frescoes and Exhibition

The Cappella San Giovanni Evangelista is completely decorated with frescoes depicting the life of Saint John the Evangelist. The incised year 1520 serves as a terminus ante quem for dating the frescoes. The subject of the images and their chronological classification are presented here side by side.

The Chiesa di San Michele in Centallo houses the Madonna delle Grazie, which is unequivocally attributed to Hans Clemer. The parish church Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista was built between 1764 and 1770 on the foundations of the former parish and castle church.

The church known as “La Bianca” is considered the oldest in the town. It contains a painting of the Madonna della Cintura between Saint Augustine and Saint Monica, attributed to Sebastiano Taricco. The brotherhood of the Battuti Bianchi di San Sebastiano was founded on 27 August 1473 to support the sick, poor, pilgrims and homeless people.

The Sala della Memoria in the “Faustino Dalmazzo” town library in Centallo houses the permanent exhibition “1939–1945 – Schiavi di Hitler” about Italian military internees. In the district of Roata Chiusani, the Casa Museo Pellegrino is a small museum and documentation centre dedicated to Cardinal Pellegrino and his literary and pastoral work.

The CN_19 – Centallese Cycling Tour

The CN_19 – Centallese cycling route is 38 kilometres long, passes through Cuneo, Tarantasca and Centallo, and is classified as easy. It runs through flat terrain north of Cuneo, taking the route along rural side roads. Its length, difficulty rating and course give you a concrete basis for assessing the cycling aspect of your trip.
