Discover Villar Perosa: Museum, Churches and Forest Trails
Villar Perosa combines precision engineering, industrial history, churches, forest trails and places for family outings. You can therefore get to know the town from a cultural, scenic or active perspective.
Precision Engineering in the Historic Factory
The Museo della Meccanica e del Cuscinetto is located in Villar Perosa’s historic factory. It features a 2,200 m² exhibition on precision engineering and the production of rolling bearings. This makes a tangible connection to the industrial work that characterizes Villar Perosa beyond its buildings and paths the central focus.
Church of San Pietro in Vincoli
A footpath next to Villa Agnelli leads up a staircase with 185 steps to the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli. The present-day church was built from 1711 to 1716 at the expense of Vittorio Amedeo II. It stands on a hill and dominates the Chisone Valley. The route thus combines a clearly described ascent with a historic religious building and its striking position above the valley.
Hiking Trails and Landscape
The Sentiero ComunitĂ Montana hiking trail from Villar Perosa to Porte begins in Caserme and takes 3 hours and 45 minutes. There are five information panels along the way; a collection field is located near Borgata Prietti. The stated duration helps you classify the hike as a separate, longer undertaking, while the stops provide additional points of interest along the route.
In Quartè d'Zura, there are hiking paths through chestnut, beech, larch and spruce forests. In winter, they offer views of the upper Chisone Valley and the valley floor. The landscape therefore takes on different forms depending on the season: forest trails shape the hiking experience, while in winter the view across the valley comes to the fore.
Workers’ Settlement and Mining
The Giovanni Agnelli workers’ settlement was established from 1915 onward and has a fan-shaped layout. The Miniera della Miandassa is located near Pra Martino and Borgata Miandassa. It was used for graphite extraction from the mid-19th century until the 1960s. The two sites reveal different aspects of Villar Perosa’s economic past, without requiring a single continuous tour.
Parks for Exercise and Family Outings
The Monumento all'Avv. Agnelli, a stainless-steel sculpture by artist Elio Garis, stands in Parco della SocietĂ Operaia. The Pista di Pump Track is also located there. The course features bumps, parabolic curves and descents for bicycles or roller skates. Just before the town center, in the direction of the Chisone, there is also Parco del Bacino. It offers opportunities for picnics and family outings. In Villar Perosa, you can therefore find both an artistic object and places for exercise and leisure in park settings.
Preserved Traces of the Past
The air-raid shelters on Via della Braida in Villar Perosa were built in 1943 to protect the local population from air raids and are well preserved. They add a section directly connected with the 20th century to the destination’s historic sites.
