Between Montalbo and the historic town centre
Lodè reveals its character between mountain landscapes, a winding historic town centre, crafts and religious festivals with their own customs. The area is shaped by the Montalbo mountain range; Punta Catirina and Punta Turuddò, the highest peaks, reach an elevation of 1,127 metres.
The historic centre extends along the slopes of the su Inucragliu hill. Its typically medieval town layout developed around the old churches. Bent streets, arcades, narrow alleyways and stairways define its structure. The centre’s residential architecture includes three traditional types of dwelling.

Alleyways, crafts and early history
In Lodè there are craft workshops where iron and wood are worked, as well as workshops for weaving and embroidery.
The Lodè area is home to five Domus de Janas – underground tombs carved into the rock. Here they are called Calas de sos naneddos. The Sas Melas nuraghe is also known as Norchirì and is considered the best-preserved nuraghe in the Lodè area.
Natural surroundings and trails
At the foot of Monte Albo lies the Ceas Montalbo di Lodè. It offers educational trails for exploring the region and guided tours, including the observation and study of marine and terrestrial ecosystems. You can also see fragments of two different Catillum millstones from Thilameddu there.
The Tepilora Regional Nature Park lies in north-eastern Sardinia and includes Bitti, Lodè, Posada and Torpè. The Rio Mannu flows near Lodè; the Sos Golleos waterfall is located along it.
The section of the CAI G-104A trail lies within the municipality of Lodè, in the Montalbo area of Community importance, and reaches the viewpoint at Corru 'e mandra pass and Punta Ferulargiu. Along this section of the trail there is also an old transhumance route and the ruins of former sheepfolds.
Festivals with their own customs
Local traditions are also reflected in the festivals. Carnival includes su Maimone, a puppet made of rags, cork and straw. The Festa di Sant'Antonio Abate is celebrated every year on 16 January with large bonfires in the streets. During this festival, children go from house to house and receive Calistros, Arantzos and various sweets prepared by women for the occasion.
The Festa di Sant’Antonio da Padova on 13 June includes a procession after a solemn Mass, accompanied by young people in traditional dress. After Mass, sweets are offered to everyone present in the square of the same name. During the Corpus Domini procession, the route leads from the parish church through streets and neighbourhoods to temporarily erected altars, which families decorate with furnishings and aromatic herbs such as erva de Santa Maria.
In Località Sant’Anna, Lodè, the Azienda Agrituristica Sas Pretas Latas Fattoria Didattica offers guided tours of the farm and tastings.
