Nivola, Workshops and Wine

The Museo Nivola is located near Orani. The museum organizes workshops for children and families. In the café of the Museo Nivola, the Strada del Vino Cannonau association, in cooperation with the café, offers tastings of selected wines from the region. The museum and café therefore bring two different reasons to visit into close proximity: workshops and wine tastings. The offerings remain assigned to their respective spaces and themes.

Church of Nostra Signora d’Itria and “Orani ’58”

In Orani, the Church of Nostra Signora d’Itria contains graffiti created by Costantino Nivola in 1958. It is considered his only public work in Europe using the graffito technique. “Orani ’58” traces Costantino Nivola’s return to Orani in 1958 through 63 large-format photographs in the historic center. The photographs are located in the historic center, while the graffiti are in the Church of Nostra Signora d’Itria.

Historic Churches, Mining and Collection

The former Church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo bears the name Torre Pisana and was built between the late 16th and early 17th centuries in the Gothic-Aragonese style. The Church of San Giovanni Battista houses a monumental pipe organ built in 1732 by craftsmen from Campania. The construction period of the former church and the year the organ was made belong to different centuries. The Sa Matta and San Francesco mines provide another historical connection: talc has been mined there since 1917. Mountains and Museums in the Surrounding Area

The Monte Cuccureddu, Monte Guareo, Monte Pisanu Mele and Monte su Dovaru are located around Orani. An excursion to Monte Gonare leads through holm oaks, downy oaks and limestone formations along a path that is carved into the rock in places, continuing to the summit. When planning this excursion, both the forest vegetation and the limestone formations and the sections carved into the rock are therefore part of the trail profile. The archaeological site of Nuraghe Golamidda is also located in the surroundings of Orani. In the wider regional area around Orani are the Istituto Superiore Regionale Etnografico and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale Giorgio Asproni; both are museums.
