Agrustos is very probably the present-day location of the Roman traffic station Augustus Populus. The former fishing practices are also part of Agrustos's history: In the past, men, young people and women helped the fishermen who returned from the sea with the “sciabica,” a dragnet for shallow waters.
On June 24, Agrustos celebrates San Giovanni Battista, Saint John the Baptist, and the summer solstice. The date combines a religious connection with the seasonal celebration of the solstice and complements the historical and landscape-related themes with a specific occasion in the annual calendar.
Travel from Olbia
From Olbia, the route follows the SS131dcn toward Nuoro. After about 30 minutes, turn right at the Agrustos exit and continue along the SP1.
