Pellicano Beach is about 200 metres long and consists of light, fine sand; small rocks rise from the water. Its shallow, gently sloping seabed is particularly suitable for children. From Pellicano, you can see the Gulf of Olbia and the island of Tavolara.
At Mare e Rocce, the soft, light-coloured sand ranges from white to very light grey. The seabed is shallow and sandy, while also marked by numerous rocks; this makes the beach suitable for diving and snorkelling as well. From there, the coast of Olbia and the island of Tavolara are visible. Bados complements the beach landscape with clear, transparent water in various shades of blue and light, fine sand tending towards grey. Bados Beach is accessible to wheelchair users.
Walking Along the Coast
The Sa Testa route begins at the car park of Pittulongu Beach and runs along the coast. It leads to S’Imbrestia Beach, with its small grey pebbles, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, as well as to Sa Dogana Ezza Beach, which borders a small wetland on its landward side. A small rocky promontory separates Lo Squalo from La Playa; it can be crossed on foot. Thus, fine sand, rocky shores and Mediterranean vegetation meet within a small thematic area.
Nuragic History at Sa Testa
The Pozzo Sacro di Sa Testa is a sacred well temple dating from the period between the end of the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age. During its excavation in 1938, numerous finds from the Nuragic, Punic and Roman periods were discovered, including pottery, metal objects and incense burners. The unmanaged site has information boards as well as parking spaces for cars and coaches. It is freely accessible without any time restrictions.
Arrival and Choice of Location
You can reach La Playa via the SP 82; six kilometres before Olbia, turn towards Pittulongu. The starting point of the Sa Testa route is served by ASPO bus route 4 between Olbia and Bados; the stop is called Pittulongu. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Pittulongu, you can compare these two points of reference with your beach and cultural interests: the road connection leads to La Playa, while the bus stop is at the starting point of the route.
