Churches and Historical Points of Reference

Several churches and a sanctuary form part of the religious landscape of Rocca di Capri Leone. Their construction and inauguration dates range from the early 20th century to the 1980s. The “Our Lady of Czestochowa” church was built in Rocca di Capri Leone in the mid-1980s. The Maria Santissima del Rosario church in Rocca di Capri Leone was built at the beginning of the 20th century. The churches represent several construction phases within the town, from the early 20th century to the 1980s.

The Madonna del Tindari sanctuary dates back to 1986 and is located on Via Provinciale on elevated ground. From there, it overlooks the entire town. The Maria Santissima del Tindari church was inaugurated and officially opened for worship after a 25-year wait. Its location on Via Provinciale identifies a specific point of reference within Rocca di Capri Leone.

Festivals Throughout the Year

In May, attention turns to the main staircase of the Madonna del Tindari sanctuary. A flower show is held there every May, organized by the local association “Movimiento Juvenil”.

The Madonna del Rosario patronal festival of the Rocca di Capri Leone district takes place every year in October. Its religious program includes the recitation of the Rosary, a solemn mass and a procession carrying the image of the Virgin Mary through the town’s streets. The October date and the program are connected; the procession extends beyond the sacred setting into the streets of the district. May and October therefore fall in different months of Rocca di Capri Leone’s religious year.

Another feature is the mechanized statue of the Madonna del Tindari in Rocca di Capri Leone. It was inaugurated on August 29, 2025, and rotates 360 degrees every day at 12 noon.

Park, Sports and Community Life

The “Peppino Grasso” Urban Park in the Rocca district hosted a wheelchair tennis event organized by the Tennis Club Rocca di Capri Leone. Alongside the religious festivals, the wheelchair tennis event was therefore a separate event held in the town.

The same park also contains a children’s play area named Federica Calà Scaglitta.

The Maria Santissima di Czestochowa church in Rocca di Capri Leone was also used as an event venue: a meeting of the Diocese of Patti was held there, attended by around one hundred engaged couples.

The Nebrodi and Getting There

Capri Leone belongs to the Nebrodi area. For travel orientation, Rocca di Caprileone on the A20 is designated as Station 008. The A20 reference supplements the regional classification with a specific travel reference for Rocca di Caprileone.
